Studio Chavelli

Through bespoke design and custom calligraphy, I offer clients a fresh approach to designs for celebrations; from everyday moments to once-in-a-lifetime occasions.

Bringing together a playful yet sophisticated eye, a passion for paper and printing, and a network of skilled production artists, each original creation is as unique as the clients I work with. Every piece is holistically conceptualized and designed in-house, and expertly crafted to enchant and delight.

About Chavelli

I have a deep love for sumptuous materials and tasteful details, and specialize in creations that bring the beauty of the written word to lush paper and physical spaces.

As a professional graphic designer, I’ve lived and worked on three continents with clients big and small; from athletes and celebrities to global brands, neighborhood restaurants and non-profits. Raised in Hong Kong, I now run my creative studio in Manhattan, collaborating with local and international clients, and serve on the Board of Governors of the NYC calligraphy guild, Society of Scribes.

I’m enamored with letterforms, the history and evolution of our alphabet, and examining centuries old manuscripts. It’s a fascinating world, and I treasure each opportunity to bring my love and dedication to the art of calligraphy to the needs of contemporary clients.

I think of my role as playing with words, symbols and images. It’s about making things tangible and understandable, and if we can make things delightful—that’s the goal.

My Philosophy

Empathy and DELIGHT

It was my love of connecting people that drew me away from corporate design and towards working with individuals for their own unique needs. After years in graphic design, I worked in luxury lifestyle management; helping clients make the most of their lives by crafting global experiences attuned to their deep desires.

I strive to make each design a gorgeous piece of compelling communication; carefully considering how you and your audience are going to engage with each and every detail. I adore getting to know people, and interpreting personalities and passion into one-of-a-kind pieces.

I want the impact to be a delight to both the eyes and the heart.

When conceptualizing a project, I take a holistic approach. I don’t just consider what your eyes are going to see. I think about what your hands and fingers will touch, and how they will move as they read and anticipate what’s to come.
