Suspiria Movie Menu Lettering
The super eerie flick features a funky typographic logo with wonky letters of uneven sizes, thicknesses and colors. Naturally, the art direction from Karla Otto was to pair lettering that would mimic this style. Wanting the names to still be easily legible, I used a flat, round-tipped nib to create monoline capital letters (mixed in with a few lowercase ones for variety), arranged unevenly for a quirky look.
The effect is a whimsical but elegant headline on each menu that doesn’t compete with the Suspiria logo, but draws from its spirit.
